Richard Lynn Haynes, 70, of Anniston, Alabama, affectionately known as Rick, Daddy, and Pawpaw, passed away Saturday evening while holding his son's hand. He loved to watch westerns, Walker Texas Ranger, and Smokey and the Bandit on repeat.
Richard graduated from Saks High School in 1974, was a devoted husband for 49 years, and was a longtime member of Saks Baptist Church. He spent most of his life working at Lee Brass where he was nicknamed, "Sleepy." He loved the simple things in life: starting his day with Folgers coffee and hazelnut creamer, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, and being Santa's helper for friends and family.
He is survived by his son: Christopher Lynn Haynes (Mary), Grandson: Jacob Taylor Haynes, Brother-in-law: Gary Lynn McGinnis (Liz), Niece: Taylor Lynn Callahan, Mother: Evelyn Haynes, Sisters: Diane Bennett (Chuck) and Debbie Coker (Jeff), Brother: David Haynes, and numerous extended family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Vicki Sherrl Haynes, and Father: Billy Joe Haynes.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Grana, Joanna, Leighanne, Alicia, Val with Amedisys Home Health and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Anniston Memorial Gardens, officiated by Anthony "Chef T" Soles and live singing to be performed by Jeremy Barker. Serving as Pall Bearers will be: Jacob Haynes, Gary McGinnis, Russell Burgess, Morgan Rich, Philip Sides, Adam Haynes, Chris Collins, and David Collins.
