

Funeral service for Robin Kent Thompson, 59, of Oxford, will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Gray Brown-Service with Dr. W. Stacey Boutwell and Rev. Jason King officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson died Thursday morning at his residence.
Survivors include his wife Marie Thompson; daughters, Robyn Thompson, Samantha Thompson; son, Chris Baber (Jennifer); step-daughters, Kristi King and Jessica King-Hughes; grandchildren, Sierra Slagle, Trent Loper, Raiden Loper, Elsie Hanger, Keegan Hanger, McKinleigh Hanger, and Paige Baber; uncle Sidney Whitley (Dottie); sisters-in-law, Rebecca Thompson, Jackie Ross (Bob); Kathy Elliott (Don), and Christina Schneck (Danny); brother-in-law, Joseph Olivas (Rita), Charles Olivas (Sharon) and Roger Griggs; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. William and Annie Thompson, Glen and Jayne Whitley; parents, Elmon and Ivilyn Thompson; brother, Chuck Thompson; sister-in-law, Lorraine Griggs, mother-in-law, Antonia Olivas Cram
Pallbearers will be the family. Honorary Pallbearers will be The True Fellowship Life Connection Group.
Robin retired as a program coordinator with the Alabama Institution of the Blind. He was a graduate of Wellborn HS class of 72. He studied at Clark College (now Mobile College) and graduated from New Orleans Theological Seminary. He was an ordained Baptist minister and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Robin’s love for the Lord was exemplified in his intense study of the bible and archaeological history. Robin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend special thanks to their friends at Alacare, Heather Gagnon and Ralph Martin for their unselfish devotion to aid Robin during his illness.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund in Oxford.
