Alexandria - Funeral services for Stephen L. “Steve” Gardner, 70 of Alexandria will be Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Sanders officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Eulation United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Gardner passed away January 29, 2013 at RMC in Anniston. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sue Williams Gardner; children, Jeff (Tessa) Gardner and Angie (Chris) Davenport; grandchildren, Robin Gardner, Emily and Gracie Ruth Davenport; brothers, Tom (Jan) Gardner, Bill Gardner; sister, Judy (Wayne) Easterwood; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Gardner, Jane Gardner, and Carol Williams Bentley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Alma Gardner; brothers, James and Cleve Gardner; sisters, Juanita Neighbors and Patsy Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Michael Yocum, Eric Clark, Darin Brown, Brad Carr, Tommy Gardner, Robert Easterwood, Ricky Comer, and Jeff Blohm. Honorary pallbearers will be Otha Hamm, Charlie Maddox, Willie Sims, Ed Magouirk, Ronald Aldridge, and Wendell Reid.

Steve was a member of Good News Assembly of God Church in Alexandria. He was a loving husband, father, “G-Daddy” to his grandchildren, and a friend to many. He was an outdoorsman, an avid Alabama football fan, and was the former owner of Valley Heating and Cooling.
