Tommy Randall Mitchell

December 26, 1948 – March 7th, 2026

TOMMY RANDALL MITCHELL, AGE 77, OF ANNISTON, ALABAMA, PASSED AWAY ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7TH, 2026.

Tommy is survived by his three sons: Jarod Ryan Mitchell (Nicole), Kevin Andrew Mitchell (Christina), and John Logan Mitchell (Desiree); his sisters Glenda Spoon (Douglas) and Shirley Howie (Jerry); his grandchildren Claire, Jack, Sydney, Samuel, Jacob, Arlis, Elliana, Alex, Keith, Serenity, Aurora, and Madelyn; his niece Hilarie, along with several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by his loving wife Sandra; his father and mother John L. and Arlis Mitchell.

A visitation for Tommy will be held Saturday, March 14th, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Gray Brown Funeral Home, 1329 Wilmer Ave, Anniston, AL 36201, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Tommy will be laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens, 4000 US Highway 431, Anniston, Alabama 36206-8595.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Mitchell, Douglas Spoon, John Cassell, Daniel Price, Jonathan Smith, Canaan Elkins, and Ralph Bishop, Martin Winters, Jay Parrack, Stan Englehart, Ronnie Bryan.

Tommy was born and raised in Anniston and was a 1967 graduate of Wellborn High School where he was an All-County basketball player. He married the love of his life, Sandra, in 1976, whom he had three boys with. He was a loving husband and father, and the best and proudest grandparent. He worked in the funeral industry for over 40 years, serving thousands of families in the community in their most difficult moments. He retired in 2024 but still helped out at both Chapel Hill and Gray Brown frequently as he was constantly requested by families. Tommy was an avid fan of Alabama football, a love he shared with all three of his boys. He loved to fish, golf, and laugh at all manner of jokes, mostly his own. He was one of the most reliable people you could ever hope to meet and leaves a lasting impact on this world and an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones.
