Irene Louise (Foster) Orr

Orr, Irene Louise (Foster) 90, of Coon Rapids, MN, formerly of Alva, FL, passed away and into the arms of Jesus on February 8, 2017 at J.A.Wedum Residential Hospice after a 2 year valiant battle with non-small cell lung cancer.

She was preceded in death by parents, Melville and Irene Foster; brothers, Douglas and Eugene; and spouses, Kenneth Johnson, Leroy Knorr and Ed Orr.

Irene was born April 14th, 1926 in Minneapolis, attended West High School, graduating in 1943. She attended the University of Minnesota where she earned her dental hygiene degree and then worked in various Minneapolis dental offices for many years. She left the office practice to teach dental hygiene at the University of Minnesota, retiring in 1988. Irene moved to Florida where she actively volunteered at the senior community where she resided and served on the Board of Directors for many years. She was an active member of the Alva United Methodist Church and volunteered in several community organizations.

Irene is survived by her son, Curt (Lynn) Johnson of Gold Canyon, AZ; daughters, Kris (Kim) Skaro and Kim Bennett of Coon Rapids, MN; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; and 4 nieces and nephews.

Irene leaves a legacy of integrity, hard work, encouragement, a positive attitude and championing the underdog. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Allina Hospice for their care and support in her final months.
