Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson St, Anoka, MN. Visitation at 10 am with Mass at 11 am. Luncheon to follow. Inurnment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Karen was born Sept. 12, 1943 in St. Paul, MN to Leonard and Ruth Duren. Karen married Greg Lachowitzer, Sr. in 1962. They later divorced. Karen married Joe Schaefer on Sept. 8, 1980 in Anoka, MN. Karen worked at Harmon Glass for 23 years. Karen volunteered at a nursing home.
Karen loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother. Karen was extremely proud of her sons and granddaughter. Karen had a great sense of humor and she laughed often, in a manner that made you laugh with her. In her younger years, Karen enjoyed camping with Joe and Joey. She also enjoyed riding with her son Greg, on his Harley Davidson.
Karen loved to collect vintage dolls, watching old movies on Turner Classic Movie channel, going shopping and the color pink was her favorite. She will be sadly missed by all.
Karen is survived by her sons, Joe Schaefer and Greg (Lisa) Lachowitzer; granddaughter, McKenzie Lachowitzer; siblings, brother, Greg Duren, sisters, Sandy McKenzie, Cheryl Lossing, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces, nephews, her cat Tootsie and her best friend Karen Lampert.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe; brother, Leonard; and many in-laws.
