Marcella T. Nelson

Age 91 of Anoka, MN went to the Lord on June 28, 2011. She passed away peacefully at Northridge Care Center in Plymouth. Marcie was born December 9, 1919 to Sigmund and Elizabeth Solheim of Racine, Wisconsin. She graduated from Racine Park High School and attended Augsburg College where she met the "love of her life", Stan Nelson of Dawson, MN. They were married 64 years spending time in Zumbrota and Farmington, before settling in Anoka in 1953. Marcie was the devoted wife of a football coach, never missing a game over 33 seasons. She was very active in her community and church. She volunteered with Community Concerts, as an Election Judge, and served in many ways at Zion Lutheran Church. She was very devoted to her Lutheran Faith, her Norwegian heritage, and her family. She is survived by her husband, Stan; brother, Russell and her sister, Dorothy Schalk (Bill) of Racine; children, Cheryl (Richard) King of Minneapolis, Steve (Angela) Nelson of Middleboro, MA, Dave (Maureen) Nelson of Chanhassen; grandchildren, Kyle (Kelly) King, Jason (Deanna) King, Cameron (Barrett) Huffmyer, Casey Nelson, Caitlin (Brian) Barry, Kelli Nelson, Grace Nelson, Sarah (Josh) Stephan, Ashley (Josh) Larson, Jesse Nelson; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation Thursday, June 30, 2011 5-8 PM at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home, 552 East River Road, Anoka, MN, 55303. Service of Christian Burial Friday, July 1, 2011, 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 4th Street South, Anoka, MN, 55303 with additional visitation one hour prior to service at the church.
