On April 27, 1929, Viola was born in Clitherall Township, near Battle Lake Minnesota, to her parents Loretta and Oliver Bjork. The little family moved from the Bjork family farm to Duluth, Minnesota, then returned to Battle Lake where Vi became the oldest of five children, with sisters Darlene and Joyce, brothers Dale and James, all growing up alongside several orphaned cousins. Vi learned to trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and grew in faith throughout her formative years.
Vi graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1947, and continued on to study at Saint Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met her husband, Roland Dick. They married on October 15, 1949. Their family swiftly grew to include three sons, Steven, James, and Thomas.
Vi and her husband were lifelong Minnesotans, first living in Minneapolis, then Mountain Lake, Fergus Falls, Anoka, and finally buying their own home in Coon Rapids. After they settled in Coon Rapids, Vi began working outside the home, first at Dayton’s Department Store, and then at Federal Cartridge in Anoka, where she worked as a munitions inspector until her retirement in 1989.
Vi served as a faithful Christian, singing, discipling, and Bible teaching, eventually making First Baptist of Anoka her church home from 1969 until 2019, when, at age 90, changing health made church attendance difficult. Her daily singing to the Lord, however, never ceased.
Viola Mae Dick entered into the presence of her Lord on September 29th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father Oliver, her brother James, her husband Roland, and her mother Loretta. She is survived by her sisters Darlene and Joyce, her brother Dale, her sons Steven (Diane), James, Thomas (Ronda), grandsons Jamin (Sara), Jordan (Cindy), Judah (Tara), Jacob (Kim), Jeremy (Carolyn), Andrew (Jessica), Jesse, and Kaleb, and granddaughters Bethany (John) and Katie (Andrew), as well as twenty six great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
