
Lou passed away in Eureka, California on August 27, 2011. Lou was born in Jacksonville, Pennsylvania on March 11, 1925 and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the oldest son of 8 kids. Lou lost his father at a young age, and had to take on odd jobs to help support the family. At age 17 he joined the Marine Corp. He belonged to the 4th division, 27th Regiment. Lou was awarded the Purple Heart on the assault on the Marianas Islands and the Gold Star on Iwo Jima. Lou worked many years in the timber industry and retired from Simpson Timber Company as a log distribution supervisor. Lou was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Betty, his parents Louis and Margaret; siblings, Margaret Boros, Grace Curtis, Jane Kachinko, Andrew Lengyel and Ernest Lengyel and long time partner Mary Yingst. Lou is survived by daughter, Candy Johnson (Clancy); son, Mark Lyngel (Andrea); grandkids, David Gee, Danny Gee (Michelle), Scott, Emma and Josh Lengel; great grandkids, Max and Drayson Gee; siblings, Edward (Marie) Lengyel and Erma (Bill) Mervick Graveside services to be held at Greenwood Cemetary Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2:00 P.M. There will be a gathering of friends at Lou's home - 350 Bayside Road, Arcata, CA following the service.
