May 21, 1939- Sept. 20, 2011 A simply amazing woman has left this world to be with God and her husband of 53 years. She was born in Los Angeles, Ca. to Marjorie and George Tunin. She is a member of the LDS Church and follows her husband (Galen M. Hassen), who was an Elder of the Masonic Priesthood. She was a strong, intelligent woman that loved her family unconditionally. She leaves two daughters and their husbands, Pamela & Shederick Atteberry, Terresa & Sergio Torres, who loved her with all their heart. She helped raise all of her grandchildren, Ciara Torres, Galen J. Hassen, Nathan Hassen & Sergio J. Torres. She and her husband retired here in 1990. The whole family followed their lead. Whatever she believed in, she would go in with everything she had. She worked from home as a seamstress, so she could be home for her family, and made beautiful clothes that she either altered or designed herself. Then she worked as an office manager and teacher of computers when they first came out. She was always proud to help a good cause that usually involved her grandchildren and their needs. She helped start the McKinleyville Skate Park project, but sadly she was unable to see it completed. She was always there for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and adopted mom, and grandmother to many others. She will be sadly missed. She is preceded in death by her sister Barbara, father George Tunin, mother-in-law Helen Hassen, mother Marjorie Monsen, sister Wanda, and husband Galen M. Hassen. She is survived by her eldest sister Lee and family, the family of her other sisters, both daughters and their families. Service information will be announced in tomorrow's paper. Arrangements are under the direction of Paul's Chapel.
