Mr. Ernest Bill Walton Welborn Jr.

Bill was born on October 4, 1922 to the late Ernest Walton and La Nora Rosiland Welborn. He is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A life long resident of Randolph County, he graduated from Trinity High School and High Point College (High Point University). He served in the U.S. Army. Bill was the president of Laughlin Hosiery Mills Inc. in Randleman, N.C.

During his life he served on many school, bank and church boards. He was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church and the Adult Fellowship Class. Bill was a member of Colonial Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and had many friends. He loved taking the family on yearly beach trips. He also loved hunting, fishing, Atlanta Braves baseball and watching NASCAR on television.

Bill was first married to the late Kathleen Laughlin, from this union he is survived by two daughters: Susan Spell and husband Don and Rosiland Eller and husband Tom. He has three grandchildren Paige Hicks, Kathleen Fisher and Thomas Eller, four great-Grandchildren Madison Hicks, Thomas Grantham Fisher III, James Parham Fisher, Taylor Crawford Fisher. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly. Daddy Bill will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Lois Jones Welborn and two step children, Karen Jones and Randy Jones and wife April.

The family wishes to extend many heartfelt thank yous to his caretakers Marylin Mullis and Carolyn Pope. Also special thanks for all the staff at Hospice home of High Point.

Funeral service will be conducted on Monday Jan. 30th at Archdale United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm with visitation starting 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
