Eva Maria Fullerton, 80 of Greensboro departed this world peacefully on Friday, January 9th. Eva was born on April 21, 1945, in Gera, Germany to loving parents Carl and Hildegard Wunsch. Born in a bomb shelter in East Germany in the middle of war the family immigrated illegally to the West when Eva was young. Nearly dying of pneumonia along the way, Eva recovered and the family started their lives again across the border in Kulmbach, Germany.
Eva finished school and moved to the US to begin a career in retail. She took a job in Milwaukee, WI and it was there she met the love of her life, Jack Michaels. They were married November 26th, 1970. Together they ran a successful Electrical engineering firm and built a custom European chalet log home near Holy Hill in Hartford, WI. Eva and Jack continued to raise Jacks four daughters from his first marriage and together they welcomed a daughter in June of 1976, Andrea Alexandra Adkins (nee. Michaels).
Jack and Eva moved to Greensboro in 1986. They fell in love with North Carolina, the beauty of the landscape, the beach music and settled in Forest Oaks. Eva became licensed in real estate and worked as an agent in Greensboro and later a Stockbroker for Edward Jones. A voracious reader, she was always armed with interesting facts to fit in with any conversation. Her husband of 32 years departed this life after a battle with ALS in May of 2006. Eva fought with him, being his primary caregiver until his death. In 2014 Eva married Robert G Fullerton. Together they shared a decade of life, laughter and rich political discourse. Eva was a very proud American citizen and a loyal patriot. She got an opportunity to serve her country in 1990, acting as the Director for the US Census operations in Greensboro, NC. Sharp of intellect and wit there was nothing that she set her mind to that she couldn’t accomplish. She mastered the English language and became the sworn protector of proper English grammar. Eva had a love of learning, classical music and collecting cookbooks. She cared deeply for things around her from our family to various pets and countless plants. She loved fiercely and was loved so in return. Sophisticated, charming and kind, she entertained and prepared exquisite meals with wholehearted abandon.
She is survived by her only daughter Andrea Alexandra Michaels Adkins and her granddaughter Elizabeth Lanier Adkins of Charleston, WV.
Eva was a force in life, and her absence leaves a great stillness. She is forever cherished, honored and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of her birthday on April 18th, 2026.
Advantage Funeral and Cremation of Archdale is honored to serve the Fullerton family.
