High Point- George Elliott Watson Sr., 85, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born to the late Maxy Pierce Watson and the late Grace Heselden on June 12, 1931 in Conway, South Carolina, where he resided for over 33 years.
He proudly served the United States Army for four years, and then went to work for Southern Welding and Machine, where he eventually retired after more than 25 years of service. After retiring, George went back to work for High Point Regional Hospital.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Mae Hughes Watson; son, Howard Bethea Watson; sister, Imogene Williams; and brothers Pete Watson, Buddy Watson and Pinckney Watson.
He is survived by his daughters Deborah Grace Watson (Thurman Chavis) and Susan Lynn Watson; son George Elliott Watson, Jr.; grandson George Elliott Watson III; sister, Sally Woody; and brother Marion Watson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point NC 27262.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
