Wade Clifton Locklear, 76, passed away on March 28th, 2024, at the VA Hospice Home in Salisbury, NC.
Wade was born in Hoke County, December 24th, 1947, a son of the late Mary Alice Locklear and Clarence Dial. He was baptized as a young child at Mt. Elim Baptist Church. Wade graduated from high school in Hoke County and was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era.
Wade retired from Interpack of Carolina after 25 years. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his spare time. He was an avid Nascar race fan and a history buff.
Wade was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Riggins; a son, Alex Jones; a granddaughter, Shaquita Riggins; sisters, Queenie Locklear and Geneva Langley; Grandmother, Lillie H. Locklear, who raised him.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Thomas; a daughter, Penny Locklear; special niece, Tonya Locklear and three grandchildren; brothers, Bernice Locklear and Rev. Larry Locklear; brothers and sisters from the Dial family; extended family members, Tara & Ronnie Pomales, Leslie & Dennis Dean, Michael Thomas Bernadette Thomas, Dixie Horn, Gary Thomas, Doris Wilson, and Lillian Ingram, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Celebration of Wade's life will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Advantage Funeral and Cremations Chapel by Reverend Larry Locklear, Minister Lana McCullum, and Minister Carrie Nixon. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Burial at Salisbury National Cemetery will be held Tuesday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
