I'm so sorry and saddened to hear about Barbara. I'll always remember her in those great, UB film school days. She was a joy to be around.

Lovely woman.  So sorry to see that she is gone.

Barbara was an absolute delight and an amazing professional.  I looked forward to every opportunity to work with her on programs and see her at live events.  She was simply wonderful and will be sorely missed.  So thankful for the light she brought to us, which will remain in this world long after.   

I believe that I am still in denial about Rooster’s passing. I’ll no longer pick up the phone and hear Barb’s exuberant greeting, “Flynn Face! How ARE you?” If either of us used the other’s given name, rather than our self-dubbed nicknames, we knew we were in trouble.

There are too many memories of Barb to write them in this small space . . . I have so many from which to choose! If you had ever been in Barb’s townhouse, you may have noticed a framed quote at the top of the first set of stairs. It is SO spot on:
“Barbara—another word for friend.”  I’ll always miss you, Rooster.


I am in shock. I’ve known Barb since the late 70’s working together at McKinsey.   We had lots of crazy adventures together in the DC area.   It’s been a while since we saw each other, but I will always remember her fondly. 

My deepest condolences to her family and friends. 

Barbara and I met in junior League in Washington DC.  Our sustainer group of single women always loved to meet at her home for Pot Luck dinners.  I moved to Florida and if she was in Florida we would meet up and share laughs, stories and dinner.  I even went to a redskins game with her. Always the ultimate hostess. She made a mean burger!  I am so saddened to learn of her passing so young. Such a warm and giving soul. She will be missed by so many. I know how much she loved her nieces and nephews. My condolences to her family.  


Dear Barbara as you lay in State i want to share a memory with your friends and family. We met while we both worked on the Boardwalk in Wildwood in 1977. We had fun with the other kids working and we exchanged addresses.
         I never saw you again in person but we exchanged Holiday Greeting Cards every year since !  I ALWAYS looked forward to your Card and enclosed Letter of the years Activity. I have the last one here now, i kept it out as The Message was simple and heartfelt on the front....Peace & Joy with a few pointsettas.sp. 
             I knew we were the same age but didn't know until reading this NOW...we are both born January 10, 1956.
         Barbara's photo here looks near the same as i recall. 
As i have a Streisand CD playing i'll say Thanks for the friendship Barbara(and a few phone calls) , as i wish You, Your Friends and Family another Happy Day another Fun Adventure.

Barbara Roos had many friends.  I was glad to be among them.  She was adamant – it didn’t really matter about what (pot meet kettle, I know.)  Her last six months have been a shining example of maintaining a positive attitude in the face of adversity.   She was strong.  She was loved.   I will miss her very much.  I offer my condolences to her family and friends on our loss.  

Barbara was a very special friend and will be sorely missed. We had a lot of fun times together.  From her annual Holiday party to the "Barbara-Qs", she was always opening her heart and her home to her friends.  We had many fun game nights together with the gang. Barbara organized the trip to Cleveland where I met my husband...  So many memories of good times. We recently were able to spend some nights together just the two of us, sharing stories, memories and plans for future good times. I will keep Barbara in my heart always.

We are saddened by the loss of Barbara especially since we recently spend some time at the pool with her.  On the same token, we are grateful that we got to see her in good spirits and doing so well and we will remember her like that.  Barbara was always gracious and invited us to be part of her ritual Sunday brunch at the pool and she would always ensure to lend her floaty to the kids which they would use as a boat all day long except when she had to take her nap on it.  She will be missed.

Like many of us, Barbara's departure leaves a big hole in our hearts.  I like to think of it as she's at the best beach resort spa ever - reunited with her parents and all those she loved so dearly.

Barbara was a networker of friends and family.  I have so many more wonderful people in my life now that I credit her for. 

She could be a bit contradictory at times (and aren't we all?). She'd argue that I still owed a  $1.16 on a restaurant bill and then turn around and give me the shirt off her back if I asked. 

Those of you who have gone on road trips with her, know she was on a driving mission, no stops allowed.   I learned early on to hit the bathroom prior to take off and avoid all liquids until we reached our destination.  

 Barbara was my rock at times when I didn't even know I needed one.  She would intuitively show unannounced and make me feel better.

So Barbara, until we meet again...  Please put in a few good words for me with St. Peter.  Not sure I'll make the cut on my own when I get there.  I will carry you with me always. 




I worked with Barbara through two jobs: the National Automobile Dealers Association and the American Retirement Association.  I hired her into both jobs - and would do it again in a heartbeat.  She was crazy,  dependable, creative, resourceful, and mostly just amazing to be around.  She also was a character - she sat right outside my office door at our last job together and I looked right at her desk from my office.  I loved watching her progression through the year - New Years, St. Patrick's Day, Easter etc.  She had decorations for them all!  I especially loved how she would put Christmas lights on her cube for December.  To top it all off - she was the "Social Chairman" for the group - planning breakfasts, lunches, and thankfully, happy hours.   

Mostly though, Barbara was my friend and I loved her.  I will miss our conversations and the notes that she would send me.  She was truly one of the good ones.  Thank you for being my friend BD Roos, I will miss you.

We often think about the panic call Jim and I received from Barbara and Carol a few years ago when they came and stayed in our home here in Florida shortly before we moved.   It was late evening.  She said that our pool vacuum was going nuts and that it was sparking electricity and what should they do? 

I told Barbara I could help, but first, to be SURE she was sitting down, and second, to think CAREFULLY before she answered my question. The question was: "How much have you been drinking?!"  Of course it wasn't the vacuum at all; it was the little light show floating gizmo thingy we had in the pool that came on automatically at dusk which flashed all sorts of colored lights!  We've laughed about that many times! 

Rest peacefully, Barbara, and get a good laugh as well.  We'll remember and miss you in the meantime.


Barbara will be sorely missed by so many of her friends.  She was a generous and loving spirit.  She lived the example of a purposeful life full of caring for those in need -- whether human or animal.  Well done, Barbara.

Barbara and I became fast friends shortly after we both moved to Virginia.  The past few years we have not kept in touch so well with my moving several times.  Due to Barbara's loving nature and dedication to her friendships, we have remained close in heart.  She was my only friend that "got away" with calling me Deb, it came so naturally to her and to me!  She was a one-of-a-kind friend and she will be missed by everyone that knew her.  It is hard to imagine this world without Barbara.

I am so saddened by the loss of Barb. She was always such a positive person who was ready to spend time with friends. Our Bayley reunions would not have been the same without here smiling face. 

Always a big smile on your face. You will be missed. Many happy memories of time spent with you at Roos gatherings. ❤️Ann and Roger Eiler

Condolences to the Roos family.  Barbara will be missed by all of us from BE '74. 

2:00 turn at the pool!  Our queen of the pool, and her ready smile and easy laughter  will be missed. Barbara was an asset to our community and much loved in all her glory.    

Still remember the day I met Barbara at the beach house and insisted the blenders needed to start whirling!  I have wonderful memories spending numerous Thanksgivings and the Hunts with the Roos family, and am so grateful for every memory!!!!  Barbara, your heart was strong and full of love, and I hope I can fill a tenth of your shoes (you set the bar high)!  Love you to the moon!

What I loved most about her was her curiosity. She always wanted to know more about peoples’  lives; about etomology; about  politics; about psychology. 
 She was a smart woman, who never wanted to stop learning. 

And she was a warrior.
 “Don’t fear the warrior who can’t be knocked down. Fear the warrior who keeps getting back up.”
She kept getting back up. And I will always admire that.
