Albin I. Anderson

Albin Ismael Anderson, 92, long-time resident of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024. Albin was born March 19, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Albin Sr and Thora (nee Brakstad) Anderson.

Albin and Alice met as teenagers at the Swedish Covenant Mission Church in Northlake and married there in 1951. They were married 71 years. Albin was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ attending The Orchard Evangelical Free Church of Arlington Heights for 52 years. Albin cherished his family and friends whether from childhood, those he met at church, bowling and golfing, or many through business relationships. He was a man of integrity and was quick to offer help to those in need.

Albin was a skilled carpenter by trade, learned by working alongside his father as they built homes together. At age 19, Albin took over his father’s business and successfully ran it until he retired in his 70’s. He proudly saw service as a US Navy Submariner during the Korean War.

Albin is survived by his sister Karen Candelaria; his children Wayne (Holly) Anderson, Gayle (Kevin) Spacapan and Jim (Sue) Anderson; his grandchildren Dayna (Nate) Hepler, Kristin (Jim) Pasakarnis, Kara (Matt) Zwirkoski, Alex, Arne, Becky and Maggie Anderson; his great grandchildren Britta and Elsie Zwirkoski, and Braden Pasakarnis.

Albin was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice Anderson, parents and siblings Karl (late Jane) Anderson, Irving (late Angela) Anderson, and Arthur Anderson.

Visitation for Albin will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Monday, July 15, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 10:00 AM at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights, IL. Internment will take place that afternoon at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave, Elmhurst, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to, The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
