Alfred Mayer was born July 31, 1930, in Munich Germany, moving to the Chicago area in 1956. He died on April 5, 2022.

Alfred is survived by his beloved wife Barbara of almost 62 years, his children Rosemarie (John), Michael (Shelly), Elizabeth (Hans), and Tom (Mary Beth), and grandchildren Amber, Katelyn, Adam, Erin, Ian, Matthew, Megan, Madison & Sydney. Further survived by his sister and brother-in-law Lori and Bill Renner as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Alfred will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a lifelong member of the Catholic Kolping Society, a man of faith and community, an accomplished chef, and joyful life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 13 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights IL. Mass will follow at 10:30 am at St James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights IL.
