

Andrew M. OstrowskiOf Arlington HeightsAndrew M. Ostrowski was born on February 24, 1959, in Poland to Marian and Krystyna (nee Mielczarek) Ostrowski. He died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at his home.Andrew was a devoted husband and father, faithful son, loyal brother, and truly impacted the lives of everyone he met throughout his lifetime. He was full of life, loved to laugh, and was never without a joke or story to tell. He walked closely with Jesus and continually shared God's love in everything he did. Andrew and the love of his life, Ellen, built a beautiful life together on a foundation of robust faith in God. Their journey together was filled with rich, lifelong memories. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren; never ceasing in big hugs, practical jokes, endless support, and unconditional love.Andrew was a wonderful son to his mother, Krystyna. He thought the world of his siblings, Violet and Chris. He never forgot a face and was always kind to strangers. He had a great ability to connect with people and find common ground. He was a great friend to so many lucky individuals and loved staying in touch no matter the miles or years. He was a dreamer and lived for the legacy he was leaving.Andrew was the true definition of a hard-worker. He was passionate about creativity and had a vibrant career as a graphic design artist. Over the years, he held various positions including a postal worker and limo driver. One of his favorite positions that he passionately held with such honor, was playing Santa Claus during the holiday seasons. He loved bringing joy to families and cherished his role deeply. Most recently, Andrew was a bus driver for the elderly and those with special needs for Palatine Township. He felt so privileged to help those in need and loved going to work every day.Finally, Andy was generous, silly, and always ready for fun. He was passionate about golf, politics, and wearing socks with sandals. He reveled in collecting treasures from Goodwill and the local garage sale. He was so proud of his heritage and dreamed of returning to Poland one day. Andy loved creating concoctions in the kitchen, listening to oldies, and reliving his "glory days." He loved photography and thought every moment was worthy of capturing and sharing. Andrew is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen (nee Martinez), his children Jennifer and Mark (Missy); his grandchildren, Alice, Anchor, Arrow, and Archie; his mother Krystyna Ostrowski; his sister Violet Filipiak and his brother Christopher Ostrowski. He was preceded in death by his father, Marian Ostrowski. Funeral service is private at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.
