Anthony F. Kwilas who was born on Aug.18, 1940 left us on Dec. 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathleen R. Kwilas nee Stanton; his sons Anthony R. (Jennifer) and Daniel J. (Denise). Proud Papa of Kassidy and Kendall. Loving brother of Robert (Phyllis) and the late Virginia Robinson and Dottie Gilmore. Fond brother-in-law of Martin (Jeanne) Stanton, William (Patty) Stanton, Thomas (Cheryl) Stanton, Margaret Lawlor, Eileen (Doug) Tednes, and Mary Gallagher. Favorite and Funniest Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bentley his favorite dog will miss his daily back rubs.
He graduated from Gordon Tech High School where he starred on the Basketball team. As you can imagine, being vertically challenged as he was, he did not play center but his talents were more suited for point guard.
Softball was also a sport he excelled in. Speed and great hands put him in left field and leadoff hitter was always penciled in on the scorecard for him.
His illustrious Golf career was always fun and exciting but let's just say it was lacking some consistency. If there was a golf aid available for 3 easy installments of $19.99 on TV, it was in TK's bag. His great friend Jim Just was usually in the cart with him reminiscing about great times at Notre Dame football games.
Tony was heavily involved in Illinois hockey throughout his life. Starting with the Arlington Rangers, the Chicago Minor Hawks and ultimately starting Team Illinois with Tim Mueller in 1981. He was a coach, manager and at one time, an owner (a long story due to suspensions and fines but we can talk about that later :).
Tony was involved in the printing industry throughout his career eventually starting his own company
T.K Graphics in 1973 and retiring October 1, 2000.
Tony and Kay loved to spend their winter months in Ft Myers Florida. Driveway Drinks and "Church" with close friends in The Pines were some of his favorite times.
He always told his sons to" Make sure you know a guy.." and one of those "guys" was Joe Nudo. Joe was always there to lend a hand whether it was fixing a sink, a car or some other device that Tony couldn't fix or get to work correctly.
If you ever met him you liked him, if you knew him you loved him. He was bigger than life and will be sorely missed
