

Although born in Texas, Arthur considered himself a true South Sider and White Sox fan. He attended Chicago Vocational High School, graduating as valedictorian. He was honored with the Silver Knight Award for being named the best student journalist in Cook County, presented to him by Danny Thomas at Orchestra Hall.
While married to Janet and with two small children, Art worked full time and attended night school at Northwestern University, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Art’s occupations were varied, highlighting his many talents. He worked as a writer-editor for industrial magazines, advertising salesman, owner of two companies, ending his career as Broker/Owner of his own real estate company.
Art was Commissioner of the Arlington Heights Youth Football League and coached his son’s team to a championship. His football coaching career continued in Naperville, coaching his grandson’s team to another championship.
His two grandsons, Joel and Ryan, were the love of his life and he would do anything for them and with them. He considered himself their second father.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Janet Gollberg; children, Rob Gollberg and Julie (Greg) Baker; grandchildren, Joel Ferm, Ryan (Grace Haka) Ferm; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Sonny Hilliard; and sister, Shirley Pniewski.
Any memorial donations under Art’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. All guests are invited to stay for the memorial service which will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment private.
