Barbara Adele (Younis) Ebert passed away on March 17, 2024 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She was born on May 17, 1935 in Albion, Indiana to Charles and Mary (Nomoura) Younis.
Barbara’s formative years were spent in Green Center, Indiana, with her parents and seven siblings. After graduation, she worked at Lincoln Life Insurance in Ft. Wayne for over 45 years and LS Ayres (turned Macy’s) for over 50 years. She cherished her time and the people she met in both settings. Barb especially loved working with families at LS Ayres/Macy’s and watching their children grow up as she helped them in the children’s department for over 40 years. She then learned to love applying her skills in helping the guys in the men’s department. Barb always found a way to meet a challenge head on and faced it with a no-nonsense work ethic and a deep care for others. She naturally connected with people and had a way of letting others feelcomfortable.
Above all, Barb loved her family deeply and was always finding ways to help them in big and small ways. She delighted in cooking her family’s Syrian recipes and making sure no one ever left her home hungry. She paid close attention and was always eager to help however she could. Hobbies did not interest her, but she loved shopping (often for others) and playing games - cha-ching! She was always on the go and had such joy in doing for others. Barb was selfless and had a strong faith in God. She trusted Him in all circumstances and lived a life putting her faith and love into action.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Mariana (Ebert) Knea; her grandson James Knea and her siblings Isaac Younis, George Younis, Sarah Meshberger and Diana Lawson. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Wordie Searer, Joseph Younis and Eileen Pontius.
Service will take place privately.
