Barbara Ann Farrell

Barbara was born in Indianapolis, IN on October 21, 1937, to Irene (nee Doyle) and Emil Kuhn.

Barbara was vibrant and full of endless energy. Her interests included golf, travel, card games and exercise. For 50 years, she never missed her early morning walk.

Barbara graduated from Marian College, Indianapolis in 1959 with a degree in Social Work. She worked at Catholic Charities and then was a flight attendant at United Airlines, which fueled her passion for travel. Barbara married Neal Farrell on January 2, 1965. They had five children and Barbara’s busy schedule included chauffeuring them to various school and athletic activities. Later, she was able to enjoy being a cheerleader and fan for her 12 grandchildren at countless games and important special events. She could still be counted on for a ride when needed and was always available to lend a hand to family or friends.

She enjoyed combining her love of fashion and socializing by working at Muriel Mundy Women’s Shop in Arlington Heights for 15 years. As for her love of shopping, as Neal once put it when he answered the house phone, “Barbo isn’t here, she is either out buying something she will return tomorrow, or she is returning something she bought yesterday.”

Barbara is survived by her four daughters Anne (John) McKay, Susan, Karen Regan, Kathleen (TJ) Perreault, her daughter-in-law Kristen and grandchildren Patrick, Maddie, Matthew & Megan McKay, Ryan & Colin Regan, Caroline, Katlin and Lauren Farrell, and Jack, Kevin & Liam Perreault.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal, son Joseph, and son-in-law David Regan.

Visitation Monday, January 9th from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Tuesday, January 10th at Our Lady of the Wayside, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
