Of Arlington Heights
>Barbara was born in Chicago and grew up in Rockford and Park Ridge, IL. She was a very social and enthusiastic student at Maine East High School and spoke fondly of those years, joining the reunion committee. Barbara attended a college in Iowa then decided she would prefer to get into the workforce, so she attended Steno school and found employment at the radio station, WJJD where she delighted in getting to meet various celebrities. She eloped with Ralph Wiederhold in November 1947. They first lived in Chicago then found a home in 1956 in Arlington Heights where they went on to have six children. After the youngest was in school Barbara found employment in the offices of Gray Dove Printing and Heart Printing where she made many long-lasting friendships. She worked part-time until her eighties then finally decided to retire. Barbara was a big fan of pinochle and was part of two different clubs. She enjoyed time with her family welcoming seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. During her retirement years, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and coloring books. She would tell you she had a lot of fun, was with the love of her life, and thought herself very lucky and grateful.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bob Alexander and her parents, Waldemar and Ruby, and her spouse, Ralph Wiederhold.
She is survived by all six of her children, Kim (Patty) Alexander, Kyle Wiederhold, Kevin (Maxi) Wiederhold, Rob Wiederhold, Dwight Wiederhold, and Lisa (John) Hanisch; and her grandchildren, Sarah Hungerford, Steve Alexander, Jeremy Wiederhold, Lisa Wiederhold, Alex Wiederhold, Melessa Wiederhold, and Susan Wiederhold; her seven great-grandchildren Anya, Sienna, Cash, Juliana, Max, Lenyx, and Lana, and nieces Mallory Robinson and Susan Sheuerman.
And no obituary of Barbara Wiederhold would be complete without mentioning she was perhaps the BIGGEST Frank Sinatra fan that ever lived.
