Beatrice "Dottie" PhillipsFormerly of Downers GroveBeatrice "Dottie" Phillips was born June 11, 1927 in Great Britain to David and Ethel Barr. She died June 19, 2014 at Church Creek Healthcare Center of Arlington Heights.Dottie was a nurse in Scotland during WWII. She then immigrated to the United States and became a citizen, which was a source of great pride to her. As her last employment she served as a Hearing Officer for the Illinois Secretary of State. Dottie was also on the Board of The Buddy Foundation " a no kill animal rescue organization.Dottie is survived by her nieces and nephew who reside in Scotland and by her many dear friends who are like family to her.Dottie is preceded in death by her husband John J. Phillips.Visitation Monday, June 23, 2014 from 3 PM until time of service at 7 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Buddy Foundation, 65 W.
