

Bernie loved watching the Cubs, duck watching in his yard, bowling and horse shoes. He was Buffalo Grove’s first volunteer Paramedic Fireman. He enjoyed working on crossword and Jigsaw puzzles. He absolutely loved taking his Bassett Hounds for walks. His grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him the greatest joy.
Bernard is survived by his children Cynthia Malouf, Bernard (Susan) Hennings, Jeanne (Robert) Mnichowicz and Sandra Hennings; grandchildren, Brad (Erin) Malouf, Daniel (Deirdre) Malouf, Elizabeth (Fiance Brandon Haggerty) Malouf, Christian (Alexa) Malouf, Melissa (Jered) Woodward, Jessica Jones, Eric Hennings, Brian (Raisa) Mnichowicz, Katie Mnichowicz, and Benjamin Mnichowicz; great-grandchildren, Logan, Madelyn, Nicholas, Ophelia, Lacey, Sam, Casey, Christopher, Emmett, Bridie and Nora and by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan (nee Slater) Hennings; his siblings Beatrice (late Frank) Spalliero, Donald (late Lillian) Hennings and Fredrick (Suzanne) Hennings.
Visitation, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers 10:15 am, Thursday June 8, 2023 at the funeral home proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL for a 11:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment at St. Mary Parish Cemetery.
