Brad Anthony Marofske, born on March 20, 1970, in Arlington Heights, to Jeanette (Vesper) and the late David Marofske, passed away at home on April 15, after a 5-year battle with Kidney Cancer. Brad fought this battle with admirable strength and was not ready to give up. Despite treatments, he never let it get in the way of living life his way. He continued to work, kept an active social life and showed up for those he loved and those that loved him even in the face of challenges. His unwavering kind and generous heart will never be forgotten by his family and many friends. A gentle soul with a heart of gold, he freely expressed his love to his family. His hugs and “Love ya” are already terribly missed.
He loved nothing more than time spent with family and friends, especially in his happy place up at the lake. We will never forget easy going days spent outdoors in the sunshine and late-night shenanigans. A lifelong Cubs fan, he also enjoyed the Bears, Hawks, Nascar, horse races, golfing, live music and getting others out on the dance floor just like his dad.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and the many friends whose lives were touched by him. It is no surprise he was jokingly known as the “Mayor.” It was not unusual for us to run into someone he knew wherever we went.
Brad is survived by his loving mother, Jeanette. He was a caring brother to Janice (Brian) Osowski, David (Cindy), Cathy Branca, Christine (Pat) and Mark. Fun Uncle to Brian Jr. (Christen), Kevin (Natalie), Beth (Erik), Matthew (Cinthya), Eric (Krista), Marisa and Tyler (Melanie). Greatest Uncle to Caden, Clara, Henry, Theodore and Oliver. Additionally, he was cherished by many uncles, cousins and so many grieving friends. He was welcomed into heaven by his father, grandparents, an uncle, several aunts and a few cousins.
His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his co-workers at Dexter Magnetic Technologies for their care and compassion throughout his employment, especially in his final days.
Brad, let the eternal sun shine upon your face. Cheer on those Cubbies with Dad and Grandma P! Love ya!
