Carol M. Benjamin

Carol M. Benjamin was born on May 23, 1934, in Chicago, IL to James and Mary McGrath. She died on March 2, 2023 at her home.

Carol lived a happy childhood on Quincy Street on Chicago’s West Side, with her parents and two brothers, William and James McGrath. She received her nursing degree in 1984, after which she began working at the Hinsdale Sanitarium Hospital ER. Later, in the 1990s, she likewise worked for Dr. Lanny Wilson, OB/GYN. Carol had a passion for art and interior design, often spending hours decorating and sourcing beautiful pieces for her and her family’s collection.

Carol is survived by her children William (Colleen) Benjamin and Nora Benjamin; her grandchildren Ryan (Jenn) Benjamin, Kevin (Hallie) Benjamin, Derek Mushro and Lauren Mushro; her brothers William McGrath and James (Linda) McGrath; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her first husband Lloyd Benjamin, her second husband Donald Murray, as well as her parents.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will be private.
