Catherine M. Amato was born on October 6, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to Denis and Catherine (nee Sweeney) Mullaney. She died Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in Elk Grove Village.

Mrs. Amato was a stay-at-home mother and devoted most of her time to raising her two children. When they were older, she worked for Schnadig Corporation part-time as an administrative assistant for several years, where she was valued and respected like family. Catherine always put other people before herself, never refusing to help those in need. She was the one her family turned to when they needed a kind word or a sympathetic ear just to listen. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren and was loved by all.

Catherine is survived by her spouse of 49 years, Frank; children, Maricay (James) Willis and John (Rebecca) Amato; grandsons, Gus and Max Willis; brother, Denis (the late Mary Anne) Mullaney; sister-In-Law, Gail Mullaney; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Patrick Mullaney.

Visitation Friday, August 27, 2021, from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
