Christopher Anthony Smolen was born July 20, 1976 in Park Ridge to Robert and Dolores (nee Pliza) Smolen. He passed away suddenly January 10, 2022 at his home in Arlington Heights.
Christopher is survived by his daughters Bridget and Katherine; his sister Therese (David) Haines; his father Robert and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother Dolores.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Chris attended St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr grade school in Chicago, Divine Savior grade school in Norridge and Ridgewood high school in Norridge. While in high school, Chris played football and was a caddy at Ridgemoor Country Club in Harwood Heights. Caddying and academic excellence led him to receive an Evans Scholarship to Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Degree, followed by a career in the field of logistics. Chris was an avid Chicago sports fan. He loved to watch football, basketball and hockey but he especially loved baseball and the Cubs. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing. Chris was very proud to become a father. He loved attending his daughter’s activities, cheering them on in dance, swimming, and volleyball, as well as coaching soccer and t-ball. Also, Chris was involved in Indian Princesses going on many campouts. Chris was kind-hearted and will be missed terribly.
Visitation Monday, January 17, 2022 from 3 PM until 8 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Our Lady of the Wayside, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights from 10 AM until the time of Mass at 11 AM. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at White Eagle Events & Convention Center, 6839 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles.
