Colleen Mudge

E. Colleen Mudge, 94, of Wausau, WI formerly of Shelbyville and Arlington

Hts., IL passed away on March 11, 2025 at Primrose Retirement Community.

Colleen was born on October 20, 1930 in Wyoming, IL to Byron H. and

Irene (Inman) Jones. They moved to Windsor, IL when Colleen was a baby. She

graduated from Windsor High School in 1948 and Burnham School of Nursing in

Champaign, IL in 1951. That same year, she married Richard (Dick) Mudge and

in 1952 the couple moved to Arlington Hts., IL. Colleen was a surgical nurse at

Northwest Community Hospital from 1971 until her retirement in 1995. She

moved to Shelbyville, IL in 1997 and to Wausau, WI in 2012.

Colleen is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Karl) Matthews of Weston, WI,

five grandchildren, Brad (Sarah) Peterson of Wausau, WI, Ryan Peterson of

Ringle, WI, Emily Matthews of Wausau, WI, Scott Monroe of Boone, IA and

Wesley Monroe of Johnston, IA and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie,

Madisyn, Molly, Reegan, Leo and an angel on the way, one sister, Vicki (David)

Freemon of Shelbyville, IL, son-in-law Bill Monroe of Ames, IA and several

nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her husband

Dick, son Scott Mudge, daughter Chris Monroe, brother Byron A. Jones and

sister Barbara Passalacqua.

Visitation will be on March 18, 2025 at 11:00 until the time of service at

12:00 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway,

Arlington Hts. IL, burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Colleen’s name to Cal

Farley’s Boys Ranch in Arizona or to Wausau Aspirus Hospice Comfort Care in

Wausau, WI.

Our family would like to thank the caring staff at Primrose and Wausau

Aspirus Hospice for the kind and loving support provided to our mother/

grandmother.
