I’m sorry to learn of his passing so late. David was one of my favorite patients. He was a favorite of the staffs with his smile and wit. He will be dearly missed as I always looked forward to seeing him every 2-3 months. He and I had a lovely conversation the last time I saw him before he moved. I knew it was the last time I’d see him and he knew as well…
I alway looked forward to seeing him and spending time with him- even if it was short lived. He’d tell me about his family, his children, his stories, and most of all talked about his lovely wife. My only regret is meeting him so late in his life.
He was truly one of the greats- someone I looked forward to seeing over and over again. My prayers are with his family in this time of grief.

Dave has always been a FAVORITE of mine.  I loved being around him and we always had so many laughs.  He was such a wonderful, kind, caring man and he and Patsy always loved our FaceTime calls.  My daughter, Dawn and I FaceTimed  the two of them a few weeks ago and as we were finishing up our call, Dave said, “Wait a minute, let me see your faces one more time.”  I remember getting a lump in my throat, because I was thinking  he must have had a feeling that would be the last time he would see us.  I loved him dearly and he will truly missed.

Dear Patricia, Michael, Kevin, Timothy, and Keith,

As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator High School community.  Know that our hearts go out to you as you begin your journey of grief.  We pray for you as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to celebrate your husband, your father, and the love you shared.

As I looked at the warm smile in the obituary photo and read the obituary for this husband of 65 years, who served our country as a veteran and whose family was his “biggest source of both pride and joy,” I was reminded of an adaptation from a reading in the Book of Sirach.

“Let us praise an illustrious man,
	faithful to his family and friends, strong in his love.
At peace in his heart and his world,
	he has left us his good name, and we recount his life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous man his good works will never be forgotten.
Among his family and friends remains a rich inheritance born of him….
His name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing his praises.
We proclaim his wisdom and love of life all our days.”

May God’s promise that life is changed, not ended, comfort you!
May the knowledge your husband, your father, lives on in your goodness, give you peace and hope!

Dave was a great neighbor, friend, and most of all an excellent bridge player.  You will be missed and I want to extend my sympathy to Pat and all his family members.

The picture is from his visit in Norway in 2010. We enjoyed having him here and also all the times we met him in the States. We miss him. Richard.
