

David E. Tanner Of Arlington HeightsDavid E. Tanner was born on October 19, 1945 in Chicago to Earl and Elsie (nee Swanson) Tanner. He died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the age of 69, in Arlington Heights.David had been a pioneer in the medical ultrasound field since 1973, and was very active in the development of cardiac ultrasound. During his career, he worked in sales, marketing, and product development for various medical technology firms, including SmithKline, Aloka, Hitachi and Pentax. He loved photography, playing golf, spending time with his grandkids, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. David had a passion for traveling with the love of his life, Janet. He was always quick with a joke, and had a smile for everyone. David is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Janet (nee King); son Andrew Scott (Amy) Tanner and their children William and Marshall, and son, John David (Richard Whobrey) Tanner and his children Luca and Nico and their mothers, Marisa DiTillio and Kristin Donaldson; sister, Nancy Donovan and her children, Mike and Patty. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; sister, Janice Simo, and brother-in-law, Charlie Donovan. A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 806 West Glencoe Road, Palatine, IL 60067. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 9:30 am, followed by a 10:30 am Celebration of Life Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 North Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran School, 200 North Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
