

Dr. Collins was the beloved husband of the late Julie A. (Heinz) Collins; loving father of Marilynn (Robert) McAlister and Janice Collins; cherished grandfather of Anthony (Lindsay) Fullman and Colin McAlister, and dear brother of Judy (late Donald) Swayze.
Collins grew up in Canada and held degrees from McMaster University, the University of Toronto, Purdue University and Western Seminary. He taught at Bethel College in Minnesota, Conwell School of Theology in Philadelphia, and for many years he was the department chairman for psychology and theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. In recent years he taught courses at Regent University as well as speaking at conferences around the world.
Collins was a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from Purdue University. He earned Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credentials from the International Coach Federation and was author of numerous articles and almost 60 published books. Dr. Collins was among the founders of the Christian counseling movement. He and his wife were active members of the Chapel in Palatine, Illinois.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 3:00 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:00 PM at The Bridge Community Church, 302 E. Euclid Avenue, Prospect Heights. Interment will be private.
