Elinor M. Gusinde

Elinor M. Gusinde, 77 of Glenview, IL was born June 10, 1940 in Chicago to James and Lucille (nee Russell) Donohoe and passed away peacefully February 5, 2018 surrounded by her family. Elinor was the beloved wife of Frank A. Gusinde; loving mother of Laura Malone, Gregory (Kathi) Gusinde and Megan (J.P.) Paul; cherished grandmother of Elinor and Jack Gusinde and Ryan, Matthew and Nicholas Paul; dear sister of Sr. Kathleen Donohoe, O.S.F., Ruth Piper, Joan Donohoe and the late Thomas (Nancy) Donohoe, sister-in-law to Diana (Gusinde) Fletcher and the late Jack Fletcher; and special “auntie” to her treasured nieces and nephews, including the late Shannon Piper. Elinor so adored her family and her lifelong, precious friends. Elinor enjoyed an exciting nursing career, spending two decades as the head nurse of the Emergency Rooms at both St. Francis and Evanston Hospitals. While raising three young children, she was an active and giving neighbor in her Lakewood-Balmoral neighborhood, being named Neighbor of the Year in 1975. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She and Frank treasured their winters spent in Las Vegas and Elinor was often found in the pool swimming laps and chatting with friends. Never short for conversation, Elinor loved meeting new people and she charmed everyone she met. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 3-7 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Family and friends will gather on Monday, February 12 at 9:45 AM at Mary Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church, 920 Granville Avenue, Park Ridge for a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
