Ernst "Jants" Jaanson

Ernst "Jants" Jaanson was born on July 16, 1924 in Estonia to Ferdinand and Mathilde (nee Pallo) Jaanson. He died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Jants studied at Illinois Institute of Technology and worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Motorola in Franklin Park.

He was very active within the Estonian community and was a member of the Estonian Lutheran Church, Chicago Estonian House and was an accordionist for the Estonian Folkdancing group, Mustjala.

Ernst is survived by his wife Astrid (nee Teder) Jaanson, daughter, Ingrid (Bill Dougherty) Jaanson, son, Erik (Ingrid Baltasi) Jaanson, Grandchildren Riina and Ian Dougherty, sister Helvi (Late Vello) Kusmin and many loved ones in Estonia and the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Visitation Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 10:00 am until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 am, at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, IL 60004

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Chicago Estonian House 14700 Estonian Lane, Riverwoods, IL 60015
