Eva K. Politzki was born on January 18, 1949, in Salzburg, Austria to Paul and Elisabeth (nee Wildmann) Baal. She died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Politzki worked as a retail salesclerk for Marshall Fields and Macy's for over 25 years before she retired. Eva was a life-long member of the Society of the Danube Swabians, where she celebrated her German heritage and enjoyed sharing this culture with her family. She also enjoyed playing Mahjong, meeting regularly with the same group for several years. She demonstrated her affection for flowers and all things blooming by learning about the plants and where they would grow best. A voracious reader, Eva enjoyed sharing her passion for reading, as evidenced by the many book clubs in which she participated. Her most favorite book had to be just about any cookbook, which then led to recipes from any newspaper, magazine, website or scribbled down while watching a cooking show. Quality family time meant sharing a meal together and no holiday or birthday party was complete without her making desserts and baking cookies for each of the kids’ birthdays. But, more than anything, Eva loved and cared for her family, especially her seven grandchildren who lovingly comforted her during her illness and especially at her bedside just before her passing.
Eva is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Werner Politzki; her son, Michael (Lynn) Politzki, her daughter, Karin (Ralph) Welsch; her grandchildren, Annalise, Sabine, Nicole, and Martina Welsch, Katharina, Lukas, and Markus Politzki; and her brother, Edwin (Doris) Baal.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
