George Joseph Glynn was born July 13, 1935 in Chicago to George J. and Estelle (nee Bajorek) Zgliczynski. He died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Arlington Heights.
George graduated from DePaul University, served as President of the Student Council, and was a rowing team member. He was President and C.E.O of The Surrey Group in Bloomingdale for over 25 years, primarily working with the Telephone Pioneers of America. George was also Vice-President of ENM Company in Chicago, where he introduced and marketed the Tapeless Measure, The Clapper, and Time Pen products. George worked as an executive in various roles at Goldblatt’s, Marshall Fields, and The Boston Store. He was a member of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Arlington Heights for 53 years. George loved to walk on the beach, holding hands with his wife. He struggled playing golf but was pretty good at tennis. George loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and was loved by all.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jo Anne (nee Leibach); children, Julia (Greg) Smolucha, George Glynn, Jr., Susan (Matt) Klarner, Ellen (Tom) Vann, Mary Jo (Barry) Kreuzer and Patricia (Brian) Malinowski; grandchildren, Joseph Smolucha, Gregory Smolucha, George Smolucha, Estelle Smolucha, Anna Smolucha, Ty Klarner, Ryan Klarner, Charlie Kreuzer, Nicholas Kreuzer, Megan Kreuzer, Christina Vann, Katharine Vann, Guy Malinowski and Allison Malinowski; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Smolucha; and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded into death by his parents; and sister, Joan (Anthony) Brenner.
Visitation Monday, October 21, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers 10:15 am, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the funeral home proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell St., Arlington Heights, IL 60005 for a 11:00 am Mass. Interment is private.
