George A. Miller, 86, of Arlington Heights passed away January 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. George was born February 22, 1935, in Appleton, Wisconsin to Earl and Vi (Adrian) Miller.
He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He joined the family business, Miller’s Mill Lines, where he sold packaging until his retirement. He was a longtime resident of Arlington Heights where he served his community as a reserve police officer with the Arlington Heights Police Department, a member of the Arlington Heights Housing Commission for 10 years and worked as a volunteer at Northwest Community Hospital until this past year.
He was very active and held many leadership roles throughout his 53 years as a parishioner of Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
George will be remembered for his care and compassion for others in the countless ways that he reached out in times of need and offered his assistance to individuals throughout the community.
George was the beloved husband of 41 years of the late Jeanne, 7 years of the late Carolyn and is survived by his special friend of many years, Pat Anderson. Together with Jeanne, he built a family and was the loving father of Amy (David) McMurray, Kathryn (Steven) Price, Scott Miller, George, Jr. (Mary Claire) Miller and David (Beth) Miller; cherished grandfather of David (Kristina) McMurray, Suzanne (Patrick) Degnan, Samantha Price, Megan (Steffan) May, Lindsey (Connor) Lewis, Cole Price, Lukas (fiancé Clare Young) Miller, Sarah Miller, Kate Miller, Ben Miller, Jack (Courtney) Miller, Brett Miller and Emma Miller and dear brother of the late Janice Campbell, Dan Miller, Skitch Koenig and Nancy Backaus.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Lauterburg - Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Monday, January 31 at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. The funeral mass will be available via the livestream link: https://youtu.be/4QJnvguhw1Y.
Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of a donation to Lutheran Home, 800 West Oakton St., Arlington Heights, IL 60004 or www.lutheranhome.org/donate in gratitude for the loving and compassionate care that they provided George this past year.
