Of Mount Prospect

Gottfried Winter joined his daughter, Elain, and his mother and father in heaven on Sunday, April 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 12, 1942, in Yugoslavia to Michael and Maria (nee Ratschan) Winter and married the love of his life, Karin Ehrenreich, on August 24, 1963. They were blessed with two children, Elain (Boburka) and Mark Winter, and lived in the Mount Prospect, Illinois area for many years.

Gottfried founded 3D Mold & Tool and Hi-Tech Plastics, Inc. in Wheeling, Illinois, which he managed until his retirement. He had a love of sports and shared that love with his family. He taught Karin and his children as well as his grandchildren to ski and they enjoyed many ski trips together. As a young man, Gottfried’s passion was soccer when he played with the ethnic German Clubs in Chicago. He also loved golf and fishing and during the past several years he could be found either on the golf course, or fishing and enjoying time with Karin and his family at their lake house in Wisconsin.

Gottfried is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karin Winter (nee Ehrenreich); his son Mark (Amy) Winter; his grandchildren Steven (Sara) Winter, Peter (Maria) Boburka, Hanna Winter, Trevor Boburka, and Nicholas Winter; and his brother Michael (Helen) Winter, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Elain (David) Boburka and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His grandchildren will miss their kind and loving Opa.

Memorial Visitation will take place Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mount Prospect, IL 60056. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
