Dear Glen and Gary,  As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator High School community as you celebrate the life of your mother and deal with the loss of her physical presence in your lives.   Reading the other memories, made my mouth water.  It sounds like one of the ways your mother will live on is through the use of the delicious recipes she passed on.  As I read those words of praise, along with the obituary describing your mother as a “loving wife”…and someone who “loved spending time with her family and friends,” an adaptation of a reading from the book of Sirach came to mind.  “Let us praise an illustrious woman, faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love. At peace in her heart and her world, she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds. A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten. Among her family and friends there remains a rich inheritance born of her…. Her name lives on from generation to generation. We gather to sing her praises. We will proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.”  Our hearts go out to you as you move through your journey of grief.  We pray for you as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to celebrate your mom and the love you shared.  May memories of your mother comfort you.   May the knowledge your mother lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope!  Take care and God bless you with the gifts you most need! Sending my deepest sympathy to the Miller families.  Wishing you strength and peace in this time of your loss.  So very sorry.

Wish we could be with you.  Helen was so lucky to have a loving family, her life was full, never long enough, but very full.  Without Helen there would not be such great Children and grand children left behind.  I can't wait to see what her legacy brings the world. Mrs. Miller was a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She will be missed by all, including her extended family and friends. We still make her famous nut cups every year, and will raise a glass to her memory whenever we have them. Our condolences to all. Bob and Mary Bak, and family

Grandma-  Mom and Dad grew up in the Depression.  Even though times were difficult and they did not have a lot, they were able to provide for their family, sacrificing fancy cars and nice vacations so their sons could live in a beautiful home, could go to catholic school and pay for college.    These great parental qualities were definitely passed on to Glen and Gary who are not only wonderful husbands and fathers, but also wonderful sons who made sure mom lived her best life till the end in a beautiful home, made sure she made it to all of her appointments and to the beauty shop for that that beautiful head of hair.  She was the best mother in law a girl could have, treating Laura and me more like daughters. Grandma was very close to her sister, Carol.  Even though they could not physically see each other, they spoke to each other weekly. Aunt Helen was loved by her many nieces and nephews as well. Grandma was very proud of her family.  She loved her expanding family as well, Lauren and Kristen. Luckily,  many of grandma’s wonderful qualities were also passed down to her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Megan inherited her love for baking and learned first hand the art of making her famous nut cups and crescents. Mike inherited her love for cleaning and keeping a tidy house.  Kevin and Ali got her quiet demeanor and kindness, never wanting conflict And Landon got her beautiful head of hair.   There are some things about grandma we won’t forget. Perfection- Everything was always perfect-her hair, every drawer, the way her bed was made, every recipe she made always turned out perfectly.  I make crescents and nut cups every year, but they never look like hers. I do think I got the stuffing and stuffed peppers down.   Holidays were full of tradition.  Every year the menu was the same for every holiday and so delicious.  As soon as you walked into the house it was warm and smelled delicious.  Christmas- eye of round, the carrots surrounded by green beans almandine Thanksgiving- the famous sweet potatoes that had to be cooked in the pan with the broken handle, 7 layer salad. Father’s day- Shrimp salad and the Angel food cake with cool whip and strawberries. 4th of July- Cherry slices, a favorite of many. Though our holiday tables will feel the void this year, her wonderful recipes will always be a staple.  Grandma loved family celebrations and the families loved her. The Magnusons and the Golota families treated and loved grandma like family.  All of whom really wanted to be here today and gave our families countless prayers and support this week. She and Margaret had a special friendship.  And she also had a special friendship with my late aunt Dee, my aunt Elaine and mom.  I know she enjoyed the outings to Grand Victoria and lunch with the ladies.    Grandma was sharp as a tack, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary.  We will all miss grandma, but we are thankful she is at peace and with grandpa.    One our way home from a doctor’s visit a few weeks ago, she said something to me out of the blue and was so profound and I think about it often.  Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift.
