Hilda Marina Ramos

Hilda Marina Ramos, 88, of Arlington Heights, IL passed away on February 27, 2023. Hilda was born on May 14, 1934 in Tulcan, Ecuador to Humberto Vallejo and Raquel Pozo Vallejo.

Hilda was born into a a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in a town bordering Columbia, with 7 siblings in a happy thriving context of a family general store. She studied at the Universidad Central of Quito Ecuador then moved to Chicago where she settled with her husband of 55 years, Oswaldo Solomon Ramos.

Hilda "Marina" worked for decades at Littelfuse comany in Des Plaines, until retirement.

Hilda is survived by Oswaldo Ramos; her daughter Janet; her son Regis, her son-in-law Jean-Francois; her grandchildren Ines Marina Doulet (17 y.o), Elliott Doulet (14 y.o.) and Gael Jean Doulet (9 y.o) .

She is preceded in death by her sister, Aida Vallejo; her brother Carlos Vallejo; and her parents.

Hilda "Marina" was loved by many and known for her sincerity, loyalty, and dedicated care of loved ones. She was a devoted mother and dear sister to Luis Vallejo with whom she shared many moments in her last years. She reflected simplicity and curiosity, as well as a certain openess and understanding: She had a "live and let live" approach in life. She cherished her younger days in California. In the later years, she loved to spend time with her grandkids. Throughout her life she took the time to indulge in simple pleasures; enjoying delicacies and sharing fine chocolates -- and in the same way that as a child she liked climbing high onto plum trees to enjoy the fruit, she spent many days sitting under a grape tree with grandkids and family in Arlington Heights. We will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 1:30 pm until 6:30 pm at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Mass is at 11am on Monday, March 13th at Mission San Juan Diego Catholic Church, 2323 North Wilke Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.

Flowers may be brought to the Mission San Juan Diego church service on Monday, or may be given at the Funeral Home or brought to her home in the days after.
