

Isabell Torbert was born September 18, 1931 in County Donegal, Ireland to Robert and Martha (nee Taggart) Noble. She died July 18, 2023 peacefully in her home in Arlington Heights. She was an Arlington Heights resident for over 50 years where she worked at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library and attended Southminster Presbyterian Church. She volunteered extensively both through the church and at the Arlington Heights Senior Center. She was well liked in the community and made friends wherever she was.
Isabell first immigrated from Ireland when she was 18 into the greater Philadelphia area. There she met her Husband, Cliff Torbert and were married at Alden Union Church, Alden PA on August 18, 1956. She and Cliff raised two daughters and a son while living in New Jersey and Massachusetts before moving to Arlington Heights in 1972. They remained happily married until his death in 1987.
Isabell enjoyed spending time in, and tending to her garden. She was a lifelong learner who loved to read and was an active member of the Questers. She was an avid baseball fan from Richie Ashburn’s Phillies to Kyle Hendrick’s Cubs. Most of all, Isabell enjoyed spending time with friends and family and especially her six grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Lisa (Donald) Nelson of Zionsville, Indiana, Jennifer Torbert Scarrow of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Robert (Traci) Torbert of Belvidere, Illinois; her grandchildren Rebecca (Nick), Benjamin (Karen), Peyton, Liam, Campbell and Dannon.
She is preceded in death by her husband J Clifford Torbert; her siblings and by her parents.
Visitation Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Celebration of Life, 10:00 AM on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 916 Central Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Southminster Presbyterian Church or Friends of The Arlington Heights Memorial Library.
