J. Michael Kane

Mike grew up in Gahanna, Ohio. He attended the Naval ROTC program at the University of Notre Dame, where he met his wife, Linda. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts, and then served on active duty as a naval flight officer. Following his service in the Navy, Mike held careers in Human Relations and Labor Relations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was a man of many interests such as traveling, boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan and followed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish athletics closely. Mike also enjoyed attending military air shows with his family, and always commented, “The Sound of Freedom!”

Mike is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Pamela (Ed) and Amy (Zach); grandchildren, Harper, Jackson, Delilah, Grayson, Cooper, Madeleine, Louden, Hayden; his siblings; many nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

The Kane family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Mulcahy and her staff at Northwestern Medicine as well as the ICU staff at Saint Alexius for the gentle and compassionate care they provided.

Family will be receiving guests on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A funeral service will take place the following day on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Parish, 831 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will be private.
