Jaime Arroyave Tabares

Jaime Arroyave Tabares, 81, devoted husband, father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered eternal life on March 3, 2023. Jaime was born in Cartagena, Colombia on May 5, 1941. Jaime met the love of his life, Martha, when he was 17 years old, married a few years afterwards and then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to build a new life together and bright future for their children.

He was a dedicated father, with family being the most important thing in his life. His charismatic legacy will be remembered by all who knew him. He was proud of his Colombian ancestry and an LSU, New Orleans Saints and Colombian soccer fan. Jaime was a music aficionado that loved dancing, painting and drawing.

Jaime was a well-respected chemist working in the Petroleum and Naval industries. Upon his retirement, they moved to Illinois to be with their daughter. In his retirement, he and Martha traveled extensively throughout several countries.His spirit is carried on by his wife Martha Arroyave, two children Verónica (husband Theofanis Theofanous) and Jaime Arroyave, Jr. (wife Whitney Arroyave), grandchild Jaime Davis Arroyave and three surviving siblings Nancy, Jorge and Sonia Arroyave, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.

He was preceded in death by father, Pedro Luis Arroyave Castro; mother, Maria Josefa Tabares Ardila; siblings, Gloria, Rosita, Eduardo and Pedro. Jaime’s ashes will repatriated and scattered at sea in his native Cartagena, Colombia later in the year.Visitation will be at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 on Saturday, 11 March 2023. From 2:00 PM until the time of funeral service at 3:00 pm.
