James McCabe

Beloved brother of Janet (William) Parry and Jill (Philip) Fitzgerald and the cherished companion of Tina Mete, with whom he shared seven wonderful years. Jim was a proud and loving uncle to Melissa Parry, Billy Parry, Shannon Parry, and Philip Fitzgerald, as well as a great-uncle to Olivia and Tommy. He was also the beloved “fur dad” to his loyal dog, Tank.

Jim’s lifelong love for softball began in high school in Glenview and carried on through the years. He managed numerous teams, achieving remarkable successes: winning the Old Style Classic at Grant Park in 1994 and 1996, placing second in the ASA Major Nationals in 2005, capturing the Major National Championship title in 2010, and placing second in the National Championship in 2011. His contributions to the sport were recognized in 2011 when he was inducted into the 16-Inch Softball Hall of Fame.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. following the visitation. Interment will be private.
