Born on June 4, 1959, to John and Eleanore McGuinnis, the youngest of four siblings, Jim was an inquisitive boy with a thirst for knowledge, adventures, fun and games.
He attended St. Raymond and St. Viator schools and was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, class of 1981, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. His career began in California at General Dynamics, followed by a cross country move to Raytheon in Massachusetts.
Retiring early, Jim pursued his passions of golf, traveling, puzzling, music, and “beating” the stock market. His brilliant mind enabled him to excel at everything he chose to do, and he was always excited to share his discoveries with family and friends. Jim’s love for dogs, especially Brittany Spaniels, led him to enjoy the companionship of many furry friends over the years.
He is survived and sorely missed by his sister Mary Kay (John) Kenyon, sister-in-law Katherine (the late John) McGuinnis, nephews; John (Lana) Kenyon, Kyle (Colleen) Kenyon, John (Phoebe Bates) McGuinnis III, nieces; Bridget (Zac) Jacobsen Moody, Madelyn (Dayne Harris) McGuinnis, Colleen (Christopher) Kenyon Thome, and Isabelle McGuinnis. Additionally, he will be missed by four great nephews and seven great nieces, cousins and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents John and Eleanore, sister, Patricia McGuinnis Jacobsen, and loving partner Ewa Turko. Following Jim's death, his brother John also passed on August 29,2025.
