James R. "Russ" Murray Sr.

James R. (Russ) Murray, Sr. 89 of Arlington Heights, proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and member of the Northwest Suburban Marine Corps League (#80) was born December 28, 1931 in Chicago to the late Bernard and Charlotte (Russell) Murray and passed away June 27, 2021. He retired from AT&T (formerly Illinois Bell) after 38 years of service and was a 50 year parishioner at Our Lady of the Wayside Church. Jim had many part-time jobs during his retirement but especially enjoyed working with his sons at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home. Jim was married for 68 years to his beloved wife Patricia A. (O’Connell) Murray; loving father of Joan (Jim) Stearns, Jim (Nancy) Murray, Mike (Beth) Murray, Tom (Jan) Murray and Kathy Murray; cherished grandfather of Kelly Stearns, Brittany (Colin) Joslyn, Erin (Isabel Lee) Stearns, Christopher (fiancé Taylor Tjardes) Stearns, Nick (Barb Christian), Matt (Linda), Allie, Quinn (fiancé Meghan McGrath), Rachel (Will) Haas, Dana, Margaret (Blaine) Hogan, Colleen and T.J. and great-grandfather of Ruby, Eloise, Nora, Madeline, Jack, Emma and Ethan; dear brother of the late Bernard (late Mary) Murray, fond brother-in-law of Sr. Joan O’Connell SSND, the late Mary Ellen (late Robert) Perez and the late David (late Barbara) O’Connell and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday July 5, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Tuesday July 6 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Viator High School 1213 E.
