James Gregory Rice

of Long Grove

James Gregory Rice, of Long Grove, IL. He died on February 4, 2021, age 78. Jim was born in Chicago to James Robert Rice. Jim earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a Master’s degree in business administration, and a C.P.A certificate. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany when the Berlin wall was erected. He was employed by the United States Railroad Retirement Board.

Jim is survived by his wife, Gudrun (Trudy). They were married for over 55 years. Jim was also loved by Gudrun’s parents, Abel and Molly Larsen, who had come to American from Norway. Jim is survived by one grandchild, Aaron Rice, who lives in the Seattle, Washington area. Jim had a special friendship with Shaun Fleischhacker and his family.

Jim loved to read and travel all over the world. He was well-liked by everyone.

Visitation will be at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Hts. Rd., Arlington Heights, IL on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 9 am until 11 am. The service will follow at the funeral home at 11 am. Face masks are required, social distancing, and capacity limits are in effect. Guests should prepare to wait outside for entry. The interment will be at Randhill Park Cemetery in Palatine, IL.
