John M. Butler

John M. Butler, 87Of Arlington Heights, formerly of InvernessJohn M. Butler was born on December 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Sabina (nee Musgrave) Butler. He died Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Arlington Heights.John received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from St. John's University in New York and New York University respectively. He was the Chief Financial and Accounting Officer of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 21 years, and a director and member of the Executive Committee of the board for 11 years. Mr. Butler is a Certified Public Accountant. Previously he was Controller of Dictaphone Corporation in Bridgeport, Ct. and with ITT Corporation and Lybrand, Ross Brothers and Montgomery, both in New York. Upon retirement, he volunteered at Haymarket Center as Vice President and Chairman of the Finance Committee and served on the Board of Directors.John is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Ann Butler (nee Kelly), his children, Maureen B. (James) Sherwood, John K. (Lisa Masucci) Butler, Ellen B. (Laurence) Dietrick, and Suzanne B. (Douglas) Howland; his grandchildren, Michael (Katherine), Neal (Brittney), and Kevin Sherwood, John and Lucia Butler, Laurence, John, Michelle and Kelly Dietrick, Mariann,Thomas and Kimberly Howland.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, September 16, 2016 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, where prayers will be said Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 8:45 am proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S.
