

Josephine Perez, 89, passed away on December 12, 2025 in Algonquin, IL while residing in a memory care facility. She was born on February 1, 1936 in Gary, IN to Daniel and Amelia (nee Martinez) Vega. All her children were fortunate enough to have been able to visit with her the day of and a day before her passing.
Josephine worked as a homemaker, raising four children, three sons and a daughter, while also volunteering for a number of organizations in Arlington Heights. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her three boys. Later, becoming a 4-H Club Leader for all four of her children. She was a board member of the United Way of Arlington Heights for many years, serving as President for a one year term. Josephine was a member of the Garden Club of Arlington Heights, working on various projects, such as Christmas tree decorating around the village and parade float design and creation. She also volunteered with the Arlington Heights Friends of the Library, working in the donation room, assisting with book sales and managing membership rolls. Josephine was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. As a hobby, she enjoyed creating art using many different mixed media materials and displaying her creations at local art shows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Helio A. Perez. They were married for 63 years at the time of his passing. She is survived by her children, Perry (Tracey) Perez, Daniel (Marty) Perez, Christopher (Lori) Perez and Pauline (John) Moore; grandchildren, Taylor Perez, Jeremy Perez, Garrett Perez, Olivia (Maxim) Foster, Inez (Meghan) Moore, Gabrielle Moore, Veronica Perez and Trace Perez; great grandson, Herbert Foster; and sister, Elvira McEwan.
Visitation is Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 8:00 am until 9:30 am at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004, proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment is private.
